Weekend Trips from Tokyo: Easy Destinations Students Can Visit While Studying
One of the best parts of studying abroad in Tokyo is how easy it is to explore other parts of Japan. Thanks to Tokyo’s excellent transportation system, many exciting destinations are close enough for a day trip or a relaxing weekend getaway.

Kamakura: A Taste of Japan’s History
About an hour from Tokyo, Kamakura is a favorite destination for students. Visit the famous Great Buddha, explore historic temples and shrines, stroll down Komachi Street, and enjoy local snacks. It’s the perfect place to experience traditional Japan at a relaxed pace.

Yokohama: A Fun City Escape
Only 30 to 40 minutes from central Tokyo, Yokohama is perfect for an easy day out. Just a short train ride from Kamakura, Enoshima offers beautiful ocean views and a laid-back atmosphere. Visit Enoshima Shrine, walk along the coast, enjoy fresh seafood, or simply relax while taking in the scenery. On clear days, you may even catch a view of Mt. Fuji.

Kawagoe: Step Back in Time
Known as “Little Edo,” Kawagoe is famous for its charming old streets and historic atmosphere. Visit the iconic Bell Tower, browse traditional shops, and try local sweet potato treats. It’s an easy trip from Tokyo and a wonderful place to experience a different side of Japan.
