What does “Immersion School” Mean?

Immersion schools are learning establishments where students are literally immersed in the language they are learning. Majority, if not all of the classes, will be taught in their chosen language. The student will be in a completely immersive environment with continuous exposure to a new language. This helps students quickly understand and accelerate the learning process.

Immersion programs

Immersion programs recognize the need for students to see and use relationships among disciplines. Immersion experiences allow students to also embrace opportunities to work collaboratively with peers and teachers. Immersion schools and programs intend to stimulate learning coupled with deepened understanding of interest in a second chosen language, its people and culture.

Types of learners

Language immersion types are characterized by the amount of time students spend in the program as well as the student’s age.

Total immersion – students are completely taught in the language they chose to learn.

Partial immersion – the mode of instruction is equally divided between the spoken language of the student and the chosen language to learn.

Two-way immersion – also known as bilingual immersion. It integrates students of the minority language and the majority language together in the same classroom with the goal of bilingual proficiency for both groups. The instructional languages are usually two languages with only one language being uses at a time.

Language immersion and cultural immersion at KCP

At KCP students are exposed to both language immersion and cultural immersion. Cultural immersion allows students to learn about a particular culture and helps preserve history, the people and local cuisine. Cultural immersion can open doors to a deeper personal understanding of new places and people. The immersive experience adds more depth to just learning the Japanese language.

KCP International Japanese Language School is an inspired choice for you to learn Japanese in Tokyo. It’s one of the most effective Japanese language schools in Japan.
