Cafe de Valtarge Restaurant Review by KCP Winter 2018 Alum Siena Rose

Winter 2018 student, Siena Rose, on Cafe de Valtarge:

Cafe de Valtarge is my favorite place to eat in all of Japan. I go almost every week and the owner knows and remembers me. He’s seriously a very kind man. He makes everything himself. The cafe has a lovely theme and he plays music from Ghibli movies which I love so much. My friend Naomi originally introduced this place to me back during my first semester. We both agree that for the price of ¥ 950, the meal set is a wonderful balanced affordable meal.

The cafe is located on the second floor of a red building on the road from the school to Shinjuku Gyoenmae station (near Sukiya). Cafe de Valtarge is open Monday – Friday. It’s a lovely spot for students to go for lunch after morning classes, or for dinner after afternoon classes on Wednesday or Friday, since the cafe stays open later on Wednesdays and Fridays.

I would rate this restaurant 5/5★. The service and  atmosphere,  are all absolutely amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend this cafe to other students.

The front of Cafe de Valtarge. The cafe is on the second floor, but there are signs on the outside which should make it easier to spot.

Here I am enjoying my tea! I like to add cream and sugar. Such a lovely way to end my day after I’m done with class!

My friend Makaila and I both got the same dish (my personal favorite) (ベーコン BBQ) Bacon BBQ. You get a lovely side salad with a sesame sort of dressing, rice, and tomato!

There are also desserts you can get! There are delicious shakes (I recommend the caramel!), pudding, pastries, or pancakes! We got one of the pancakes with Sakura ice cream! (he also had strawberry and vanilla).

After your main dish is finished, the owner will bring out your drink and a macaron. He makes them himself and he changes the flavors. I’ve had strawberry, coconut, pineapple, honey, and more! All are delicious and work really well with coffee or tea.
