I loved the Sadou club and learning about Japanese culture and history through a tea ceremony.

Milla from Spring 2023

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The field trips to kawagoe and chichibu. They were a great way of exploring a different side of Japan and getting out of Tokyo. Also good for making friends and getting to know my classmates.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I loved the Sadou club and learning about Japanese culture and history through a tea ceremony. I didn't think the Special Session classes were very helpful, they were fun but didn't really help in my studies.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

The two review sessions before finals was really helpful. Also pair works and group projects.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Participate in class!!! It makes all the difference and the teachers will get to know you better. Also it is easier to make friends when you are active in class.

Testimonials

The textbooks and drill practice helped me study, the tests helped me figure out what I needed to study more. I often did small group study sessions outside of class as well, and those helped all involved, I believe.
