Andrew from Summer Short 2018

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I appreciated going out to the Japanese countryside the most. Being able to experience the culture of the country outside a big metropolis is really important.

Why did you select this program?

I selected this program, because I've only heard fantastic firsthand experiences and to fulfill partial degree requirements.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The one of the most interesting and productive aspects of the program was the dogged desire that one of the instructors had getting us to talk to one another in 日本語. Without that push, I don't think I would ever have started thinking in the language like I can now.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

You must dive in as deep as you can. Any less than 100% effort and you will regret only that, not giving your all.

Testimonials

I loved meeting new people in my classes and being able to practice Japanese almost every day. I loved living in Japan as if I were Japanese and absorbing the culture.
