Please understand that when the program says "intensive" that it is very intensive. It's not a selling point, but the actual truth.

Ashley from Spring 2018

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I think Sports Day was the best activity, because it brought all the classes together and made us work as a team. It really showed who could depend on their classmates. It was really fun as well.

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

I found English Support to be the most helpful class.

Why did you select this program?

I selected KCP because I felt that for my position (a post-graduate, wanting to live and work in Japan) that KCP seemed like a good fit. Although, the program itself is VERY INTENSIVE, I feel like it was a good experience.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

The English Support Classes were VERY helpful. I also feel the small group sessions and extra conversation sessions provided for the classes from my teachers were VERY helpful towards gaining a further understanding of the speech we were practicing in class. Also, the additional Grammar Information Booklet provided was also a great help, as most of the grammar is very confusing.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

I found traveling to different sites around Tokyo was very rewarding (even if I had visited some spots before in earlier trips to Japan). I do believe for a lot of students it brought places and information about to Japan to the table that they might not have know before. Some of the students in my group this semester had never really studied Japanese Culture, so it was fun to see their reactions.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Please understand that when the program says "intensive" that it is very intensive. It's not a selling point, but the actual truth. If you do not know any Japanese going into the program, you might want to take a few classes before hand. I had two years of Japanese Language classes in college before I graduated in 2010, and that was baby steps compared to KCP. They really care about you learning the language, but it is fast-paced so be prepared!

Testimonials

The most important reason why I selected the program was for its affordability. As a graduate, I am paying for the program through my own personal funds without the help of any university financial aid or scholarships. Affordability and value of the program were essential in my decision, and KCP has exceeded my expectations.
