Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I enjoyed the tea ceremony. It seemed authentic, and was enjoyable.

Why did you select this program?

I knew it would give me great submersion in the heart of Tokyo and give me practical opportunities to use the Japanese language in a practical way. Also it allowed me to study abroad as a sophomore and was the least expensive.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The classes taught me a lot day in an day out and the conversation session I had with my sensei were great! The least productive seemed to be the culture lectures some of the senses were not very interactive.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I found flash cards helpful. Also making myself mini quizzes and tests helped me prepare for class quizzes and tests.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

This program is for studying Japanese. If students plan to do any personal tours or outings. I would recommend a different program or plan to do them before or after the program start and end dates.

Testimonials

If you’re looking for an intensive course, then KCP is the place to go! Although it was hard work, it was also a lot of fun and I’m very pleased with my current language skill – and I’ve only just finished Level 1! Going out with the class for a final dinner really showed me how much we’d learnt as we had no problems in conveying our feelings even though our only common language was Japanese. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
