If you arrive on the official program starting date, you’ll be greeted by a KCP staff member at the New Tokyo International Airport (commonly referred to as Narita International Airport). International flights usually arrive at Narita in the afternoon. When all students have arrived, we usually escort each directly to the home of their host family or to the dormitory. KCP staff members will pick up students who arrive before 4 pm. If you arrive later than 4 pm, you will be responsible for arranging your own lodging and transportation to KCP the next morning.

If you plan to arrive early and would like to book a hotel, visit: www.hotels-in-tokyo-online.com You will be paying in Yen, so plan for that.

If you plan to arrive early, you must arrange your own local transportation and accommodations until the program begins. Your travel agency should be able to help with this. Though KCP does not have the resources to pick up students at the airport before the scheduled arrival date or on an individual basis, we can assist you by telephone. If you have never traveled to Tokyo before and are uncomfortable with your “survival Japanese,” we highly recommend that you arrive on the program starting date.

When you arrive in Japan, you’ll enjoy a detailed orientation on the use of the public transportation system, communications systems (telephone, post office, email, and so on), housing, courses, and other information. We want to make your adjustment to Japan as smooth as possible.

Note: It is your responsibility to make travel arrangements to and from Japan. The program fee does not include personal expenses or airfare.
